The Wisdom of Winter and the Yield to the Spring Equinox
In the depths of winter, the earth rests, lying dormant awaiting the warmth and nutrients required for growth. Each seed hidden in the earth stores within itself the potential for a whole new world. There are many of us who have experienced a similar dormant period over the past few months. Winter is a time when we can be silent and still, and access our inner wisdom. We try to tap into the resources stored within us to fully bloom again when the conditions are right.
In spring, the renewal and rebirth phase of our cycle comes to pass. The spring equinox on March 20/21 celebrates a time of equal light and darkness. It is a time of hopefulness, promise, and creativity, as the sunshine increases and the days officially have longer hours of light than dark night.
Now if the time to give power to the dreams you nurtured during the stillness and quiet of winter. Help to melt away the heaviness of winter with movement and stimulation, honour the plans you made and put them into action! Shed any limiting or toxic behaviours, and take care to protect yourself during this time of rebirth.
A great spring tea is ginger, lemongrass, and honey. We are infusing clove, sage, and orange peel essential oils into the studio. Our Monday evening lineup is a perfect way to enjoy these scents and celebrate the return of spring; blissful guided meditation with candlelight from 630-7pm followed by vinyasa from 7-8pm. Get your head in gear and then let the body move, balance the mind and the body will follow!
Happy Spring Equinox, fellow yogis.
