5:30-7:00pm (yoga class)
7:15 - 8:00pm (nutrition class)

This is a unique program combining yoga and nutrition to promote health and well-being. Optimal health comes from a balanced lifestyle. Yoga is a practice that helps the body, mind and spirit heal and shine. Learning healthy nutritional habits will support your yoga practice and your life. For six week, each student is asked to participate in one yoga class (taught by Ana Silva ) and a nutrition workshop (Tues. 7:15pm-8:30pm). Topics such as improving digestion, natural weight loss, supporting the immune system, will be discussed in the nutrition workshops. Handouts will be given to help students make positive changes in their dietary habits. Participants will also be asked to complete a weekly food journal which will be handed back with personal feedback and suggestions.
Ana Silva is a Certified Yoga Teacher and a Registered Holistic Nutritionist.
“As my yoga practice developed, I became more aware of my body and the connection between my physical health and my emotional health. Nutrition became a natural extension of my studies. Like many people, eating is something I have always enjoyed. It is also something that we often do unconsciously. We eat everyday but rarely do we think about how the food we eat affects us. As I began studying and learning about the relationship between what we feed ourselves and how we feel, the more I became convinced of its importance in the pursuit of health and happiness.” Ana Silva

OPENING THE HIPS - Ana
Saturday, April 19 AND May 10, 2008
3:00-5:00pm
Pre-registration for workshop required
The hips are a major joint in the body used constantly in our daily lives. They are the centre of movement. They provide balance and stability, connecting the upper and lower body. They are a key part of our well being. It is in the hips that we carry our own weight as well as, the weight of the world. The hips are a holding site for our feelings and memories connected to security, survival, communication, and relationships. The hips allow us to move in the world and tell us how we feel about it. Throughout this series of workshops, we will explore the movement of the hips, our connections to this area, working gradually to release both physical and emotional tension, learning about ourselves in the process. This workshop is for practitioners of all levels.

In this workshop we will focus on releasing tension in the shoulders, gently moving into the chest and upper back, and opening the heart in a gradual and supportive way. This workshop is for practitioners of all levels.
