HATHA
Instructor: Susan
This class allows time to explore each posture
using the breath. The class begins with breath work
in a supportive posture to open the diaphragm and
soften the mind. We explore elements of alignment in
each posture to create understanding as we find
integrity in the pose. We search for a kind balance
of strength and opening to create symmetry and
lightness in our practice. This gives meaning to the
journey as we linger in the moment. Iyengar elements
are weaved throughout the class to acknowledge the
importance of correct alignment as it relates to the
individual body. Props such as blocks/straps and
bolsters are a regular part of understanding the
support system required to practice safely and
guidance is provided to ensure we find beauty in our
practice.
1:05-2:05pm
YOGALATES
Instructor: Carlyn
This
Yogalates class is geared towards strengthening the
core while at the same time developing more freedom
through the body. Each class begins with Pilates
inspired core exercises and then moves into a
Vinyasa style class. We focus on the core not only
to strengthen the abdominals, but also to protect
and release the low back, and to help move us more
easily and freely as we transition from posture to
posture- particularly in a Vinyasa class. Once we
access those hard to find lower abdominals, we will
begin to feel more support and strength in our
standing postures, as well as creating that inner
fire in our core centre.
5:30-7:00pm
HATHA -
Level 1-2
Instructor: Susan
This engaging Hatha yoga class flows slowly
through the postures to allow deep breathing to
create depth in our practice. Challenging sequences,
although slow and detailed, require some previous
yoga as there is particular focus on both strength
and alignment. This class begins with breath work to
open the diaphragm and we utilize the energy this
creates in our more strenuous postures. We move at a
slow but energetic pace to up beat music that is
inspiring and joyful.
7:15-8:30pm
GENTLE HATHA
Instructor: Jane
Jane completed her yoga teacher training at Yoga
Vidya Gurukul in Masik India. Her Gentle Hatha
is a slow flowing class, focusing on breath and
alignment. This class is suitable for anyone with
physical limitations or those looking to slow down
and unwind.
8:30-9:30pm
SWEATY VINYASA
Instructor: Yvette
This is a great class for beginners or
intermediates looking to refine and deepen their
practice. While the postures are similar to
Hatha yoga, Vinyasa is a more vigorous and
flowing practice that connects breath to
movement. Yvette provides a challenging, fun and
comfortable environment that accepts the unique
challenges and abilities of each participant.
Along with its many physical benefits, this
practice helps to slow the mind and brings
awareness to the outer and inner being,
cleansing the body of toxins and deep set
emotions. Participating in this class and
practicing yoga is a powerful tool for self
discovery and transformation.

for the day. The class begins with breathwork (pranayama)

RESTORATIVE
Instructor: Helene
Please join Helene as she takes you through a meditative journey
using blocks, bolsters and other props while in easy and supported asanas to create a blissful sense of well being that is both healing
for the body and spirit. The props allow for stretching with minimal
effort for maximum relaxation. Recent studies conclude that breath
work can create a profound sense of well being and has actually been
proven to heal the body. You will leave this experience feeling
truly restored.
(The inclusion of the breath work during this class is documented
to increase a sense of well being thru increased activity in the
left pre-frontal cortex of the brain. This area of the brain is
responsible for the release of dopamine and also controls the
adrenal glands responsible for such activators as cortisol which may
contribute to both weight gain and disease.)
Please Note: Restorative yoga is especially helpful in times when
the body is feeling weak, fatigued or stressed and is particularly
useful in recovery of illness, injury and surgery.

Instructor: Jane
This unique Friday afternoon class begins
with restorative poses to create opening while
we discover our breath. We then continue the
practice with active poses that create length,
opening and space within the body accompanied
with easy movement. Special homage is paid to
the breath while lingering in postures to deepen
our entry into and become aware of new areas of
the body. Restorative postures are sequenced in
the second part of the practice based on the
changing seasons to restore balance to the
central nervous system. You will leave feeling
refreshed and restored in both mind and
body and your spirit will be aligned in a more
positive light.
5:30-6:45pm
HATHA - ALL Levels Instructor: Carlyn This class moves at a
slow, gentle pace, and no two classes are the
same. Students will practice a wide variety of
asanas moving with the breath to open the body,
mind and spirit. Each class begins in Savasana
and moves into slow movement awakening all parts
of the body. Students are encouraged to move at
their own pace, to listen to their bodies and to
use their breath as a tool to settle deeper into
the postures. It is believed that energy blocks
can originate from tight and closed bodies, so
the focus of this class is to open the physical
body to allow the energy to flow freely. This
class is welcome to all levels; those seeking
freedom and balance in their physical and
energetic bodies. |

VINYASA
Instructor: Davian
The definition of Vinyasa is linking movement
with breath. The size of the movement can vary
from sweeping Sun Salutes to the subtle
deepening of a forward fold. Find the grace in
the flow from one pose to another. Allow
yourself to follow the breath deep inside. You
can expect music, to move from strong standing
poses to deep seated ones, to find space to
breathe.
From her first class more than a decade ago to
the ongoing training now...yoga continues to
amaze Davian. She believes that we do yoga to
work out much more than our muscles, (although
that happens), we do yoga to work out the parts
of our souls and psyches that allow us to become
better people. Better friends, better partners,
better neighbors, better strangers...you can
learn so much about yourself on the mat.
Davian loves the Vinyasa flow practice for its
honesty, you always know if you are connected to
the breath...or if you aren't, you always have
the opportunity to re-engage.
