It is with shock and sad hearts that The Yoga Lounge learned of the sudden passing of one of our own students, Dr. Shamek Pietucha. Shamek’s passion for yoga brought him to India, where he passed unexpectedly just days before embarking on his journey to become a yoga teacher.
Shamek was a beloved and committed student at The Yoga Lounge and several teachers attended the Celebration of His Life, hosted by his friends and family, on Sunday October 18. Guests were invited to share stories and memories of Shamek, and Nicole guided those in attendance through an emotional group ‘Om Wave.’ After two deep letting go breaths, everyone chanted three rounds of ‘Om’ at their own filling Berkeley Church with beautiful, healing energy and vibrations.
The Yoga Lounge is pleased to host two special classes in honour of Shamek this week:
- Wednesday October 21: 5:30-6:45pm, Restorative Yoga with Simone
- Thursday October 22: 8:00-9:00pm, Hatha Yoga with Nicole
